Our work is divided into four integrated focus areas aligned with the National Development Plan and the AgriBEE Sector Codes.
Socio-economic development seemed like the obvious place to start, including feeding programmes and school support to nurture young minds. From there, we will transition to skills development, where we plan to offer bursaries and learnerships in specialised sectors such as agri-trading and venture creation. But we don’t stop there. We support our vision through enterprise development, providing funding and incubation for start-ups to ensure they survive and grow, and through supplier development, helping small-scale farmers and suppliers access aggregation points, strategic support, and efficiencies to strengthen the value chain.
Project Dream SA acknowledges the importance of ensuring children have access to nutrition and education from a young age. Our socio-economic development initiatives emphasise feeding programs that nurture the nutritional needs of energetic and curious young minds. Furthermore, the support for schools aims to broaden access to technology and provide talented students with opportunities for educational and global advancement.
The school support and feeding programme is intended for schools in communities where the local economy depends on agriculture.
Project Dream SA, through its strategic partners, will access information on talented high school students and strive to support them through its school support programme. Students will receive support and exposure throughout their schooling and will be shortlisted for the Project Dream SA bursary programme. The feeding programme will be implemented in collaboration with funders and will incorporate nutritious foods sourced and/or produced by strategic partners.
Strategic partners with expertise in education will provide support through tools, administrative support, and engagement with institutions. The Project Dream SA board will have oversight and approval rights for any funding disbursed to school support and feeding programmes.
The Project Dream SA bursary programme aims to create a platform for South Africa’s best-performing matriculants to gain access to top universities whilst being given exposure to environments which allow them to use and harness their talents for the benefit of the country.
The bursary programme is intended for communities where the local economy depends on agriculture.
Project Dream SA, through its strategic partners, will access information on talented high school students and strive to support them through its school support programme. The students will be shortlisted for the bursary programme and successfully appointed based on their Grade 11 and Matric performance.
Strategic partners with expertise in education will provide support through tools, administrative support, and engagement with institutions. Project Dream SA will have oversight and approval rights for any funding disbursed to eligible students.
Workplace learning and exposure are crucial to building a pipeline of skilled candidates across industries. For this reason, Project Dream SA supports learnership programmes in specialised areas, especially agri-trading and venture creation, within these industries.
Opportunities will be promoted on youth-focused platforms, with shortlisting and selection carried out by experts specialising in the relevant areas.
For practical implementation, Project Dream SA will leverage accredited programmes focused on key learnerships. Additional niche and specialised learning will then be integrated into these programmes.
The Project Dream SA board will oversee this programme and rely on support from the implementation partner to ensure proper and thorough implementation.
Project Dream SA recognises that small and medium-sized enterprises are vital components of any value chain, and their sustainability is essential to the strength and flexibility of any industry. Most start-up programmes are too generic and do not address the specific challenges faced by small enterprises. Project Dream SA is developing a refined start-up programme that is vibrant and responsive to the real needs of small businesses.
Suppliers within the value chain of Project Dream SA’s funders will be invited to pitch for inclusion in the start-up programme. These are expected to mainly be enterprises in the agri-sector.

The Project Dream SA board, representatives of funding partners, and an administrator will contribute to the design, implementation, and governance of this programme. A start-up committee will handle application reviews, monitor progress, and report on developments.
Start-up enterprises supported through incubation and start-up interventions by Project Dream SA will be considered for funding based on their growth and their ability to achieve operational and financial stability.
The type of funding will depend on the start-up’s needs and those of its clients, who will likely be the programme’s funders. The funding considered may include early payments to boost cash flow and loans to help these enterprises obtain essential resources for their core operations.
Project Dream SA intends to be a strategic partner to its funders by implementing programmes that improve delivery and cost efficiencies across their supplier base. A key component is the establishment of an aggregation point, which will significantly reduce delivery and storage costs for small-scale farmers. In addition to physical infrastructure, these suppliers require ongoing strategic support to consistently meet client commitments.
Qualifying suppliers of Project Dream SA’s funders will be given access to the aggregation point and strategic support.
Project Dream SA will work closely with its agri-sector funders to identify small-scale farmers who need access to an aggregation point. Funding will be used to establish and operate this aggregation point. Eligible suppliers will benefit from strategic support provided through a joint effort between Project Dream SA and its strategic partners.
The Project Dream SA board will be responsible for oversight and approvals in respect of this Supplier Development programme. Strategic partners will include funders and the government.
